EAT THE CAKE
Someone asked me my biggest piece of nutritional advice over the weekend and I think my response will surprise you. As the words were coming out of my mouth I was honestly a little stunned myself. I hadn’t thought about this question in a while and before I knew it these three fateful words vomited from my mouth: EAT THE CAKE.
I could see the puzzled expression on the face of my counterpart and decided I better continue before the health gurus put my business license in the vitamix with their next avocado and kale smoothie (they are delicious though- for real). You see, believe it or not, a piece of cake ain’t gonna kill you. And I bet you you might actually (GASP) enjoy it, especially if you’re hanging out at a party with some friends.
If you’re trying to lose weight, the problem usually isn’t the cake, it’s the spiral of bad decisions you make as you shame yourself for eating that cake:
“Oh, now you did it Jay, you messed it all up. Might as well eat three more pieces”.
“See, I knew you couldn’t do it. When you wake up in the morning, let’s just have 4 doughnuts and a cinnamon bun”.
“I’m NEVER going to have the will to stop myself, so why even bother”?
But what if you just gave yourself permission to eat that piece of cake? And then you just got back to eating delicious healthy food until you felt like having another piece of cake?
It really is that simple. Eat well 80% of the time and you’ll see long term results that last.
Stop beating yourself up. Stop the yo-yo. Enjoy your life. Enjoy your food. EAT THE DAMN CAKE.
