Working Out Should be Fun
I used to go to the gym and beat the shit out of myself almost daily. I didn't see it as punishment for making unhealthy life choices like many others do, but I did use it as a coping mechanism to deal with stressful things in life. That sounds like a good thing (and it's certainly better than going back to drugs), except I was WAY overtraining and my body was struggling to keep up.
I felt like crap as many days as I felt awesome. This or that was super sore, or my back was tweaky, or I pushed so hard I wanted to throw up for the rest of the day. What's even crazier is at the time I didn't see anything wrong with any of that.
Your workouts should leave you feeling amazing and energized. Not just in that post workout glow, but ALL THE TIME.
When was the last time you just played around and moved your body? Remember when you were a kid and just did what felt good? Yeah, let's do more of that.
Put aside the programs, hacks, sets, reps, and tempos to simply reconnect to your body every once and a while.
